Stephen Youngt

Stephen Young
Chief Executive Officer

Stephen Young was appointed Chief Executive Officer in December 2010. Stephen is responsible for HSBC's corporate banking, securities services, insurance and private banking businesses in Ireland, which together employ over 530 people.

Stephen has spent over fourteen years with HSBC, most recently working in the Group Management Office developing the Group's business interests in the Asia-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa regions. Previously he was Head of HSBC General Insurance in the UK, responsible for all general insurance business across the HSBC, First Direct and M&S Money brands. Stephen has also spent some time working for HSBC in the United States.

A graduate of Durham University and Cambridge University, he studied Law and began his career as a solicitor in London.


Brian McCabe

Brian McCabe
Head of HSBC Securities Services in Ireland

Brian McCabe joined HSBC as Head of Operations in September 2010 having previously held the position of General Manager and Head of Operations with State Street Services, Poland. He became Head of HSBC Securities Services in Ireland in January 2012.

Brian has over 15 years of experience in the Funds Industry and has held a number of senior positions in client relationship management, operations management, client take on and sales, product development and project management in both State Street and Bank of Ireland Securities Services.

Brian holds a BA in Business Studies (Hons) degree from the University of Wales.


Rory Quinlan

Rory Quinlan
Head of HSBC Private Bank, Ireland

Rory joined HSBC as Head of Private Banking in Ireland, having previously been a Director with Bank of Ireland Private Banking for eight years.

Prior to that, he held senior positions with Wells Fargo Bank in the United States and with professional firms advising clients in both Europe and the US. Rory has over 22 years experience covering private banking, investment management, accountancy, tax and litigation consulting.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, a CPA (California), holds the Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) designation in Ireland and has a BA (Honours) in Economics from University College Dublin.


Alan Duffy

Alan Duffy
Head of Corporate Banking Ireland

Alan joined HSBC in July 2006 from ING Bank N.V. where he was Head of Wholesale Banking, based in Dublin. Alan also held the position of Head of Lending with Banque Bruxelles Lambert. Prior to that he spent five years at Scotiabank (Ireland) Limited, with responsibility for corporate lending activities throughout the Nordic market.

His early career included a variety of corporate and commercial banking roles with the Bank of Nova Scotia and First Southern Bank.

Alan is a Business Studies graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and holds an MBA from the Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin.


Ed McGivney

Head of Insurance

Ed McGivney joined HSBC in January 2010 as Chief Financial Officer having previously been Finance Director at Aviva Life & Pensions for six years. Prior to that Ed held a number of senior finance positions with Barclays, GE Capital and started his career with Ernst & Young. Ed has extensive international financial services experience having worked in various roles in UK, United States, France and Canada.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and has a MSc in Investment & Treasury from Dublin City University.
